om teen treine te skree
Mercy and her friends often spend time next to the train track that runs past her grandma’s
house. However, when a revealing photo of Mercy is leaked, and spreads throughout the
school, relationships, friendships and the trust amongst one another is broken. Mercy
struggles to cope with the isolation, cyber-bullying and anxiety it causes. After and evening
spent on the tracks, a group of friends are called to testify about what exactly happened to
Mercy.
This piece was written for the learners of Jan van Riebeeck High School’s theatre group. I work with the group not only to develop key theatrical techniques, but in staging professional work.
